The sacking of Soba LG chairman

Many wonder the reason behind the decision by the Kaduna State House of Assembly and where they derived the power to dish out that kind of punishment to sack an elected Chairman.

As patriotic citizens of the local, government, we are still lost as to the reason behind the suspension of the chairman. Was it done in the interest of the people of the local government or in the interest of some few that want to promote their selfish interest as against that of the people?

The Vice Chairman was appointed to act as the chairman and oversee the affairs of the local government. However, since he was appointed, he was never given a free hand to run the administration due to constant interference from the State Assembly. Even though he is expected to perform his job as a chairman, he was never made to subscribe to the Oath of Office which the Constitution requires all political office holder to do. For the Assembly not to ensure that he has taken an Oath shows the calibre of members of the House. That is unfortunate.

It is now beyond question that the people are being short-changed as the local government has completely been taken over by the House of Assembly. It is therefore not surprising that all efforts to lift the suspension of the elected chairman have failed.

The happening in the local government is putting the Namadi administration in bad light because, to an average man in Soba, the Governor is part of the syndicate that is bent on pauperising them. It is rather unfortunate that the elite and elders of the local government cannot do anything to check this unfortunate act perpetrated by the Kaduna State House of Assembly.

The people of Soba are being deprived the benefits of their resources. The common people of the local government may be helpless, their elders and elite may have been cowed, but their resolve to put everything in the hands of ALLAH will never be in vain.
