However, the most telling is the threat posed by the Federal Government to the peace in Kano, just because it is not happy with his emergence and it did everything to scuttle it.
For the former Central Bank Governor who was suspended by President Jonathan three months to the end of his tenure for insisting that twenty billion dollars was missing from the NNPC to become an Emir of Kano  must have been a devastating blow to the president. And to boot, he became an Emir few days after his tenure had ended.
First the government suddenly banned charted flights from landing in Aminu Kano International Airport in  Kano . This was after grounding the plane of Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State earlier, making him to  travel to Abuja by road together with Abubakar Kawu Braje  and Senator Danjuma Goje.
This vindictiveness is to prevent people from going to Kano to congratulate Sanusi. How low can the office of the president descend?
Even with the lame explanation from the  military that it was for security reasons people know better.
It was also learnt that the government planned to arrest Sanusi on Sunday after the announcement that he was the new Emir, but the state government got winds of it and smuggled him from his house to the Government House.
This is as the President is yet to congratulate the Emir and many people believe such pettiness should be above the office of the President. However, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),  the ruling party, offered a belated congratulations to the Emir, though with its usual caustic tongue, calling on him not to be partisan.
This is the party that  couldn’t wait to congratulate the late Emir’s eldest son and one of the nominees, the Ciroma of Kano, Sanusi Ado Bayero as the new Emir, that it pre empted  the Kano State government  and issued a congratulatory statement  when the state government had not announced who the new Emir was.
Even though it withdrew the statement later, it showed how anxious  the PDP and the President were for  Sanusi not to become the Emir of Kano.
The police have barricaded the Emir’s Place so that Sanusi would not enter the palace. Since his installation, he had been holding court in the Government House, Kano.
Also the security men at Kano Government House was reduced . “The Federal Government ordered for the palace to be sealed. The Federal Government ordered the reduction of security men at the Kano Government House,” Governor Rabi’u Musa  Kwankwaso told BBC Hausa radio.
Though as usual, the police have denied that their presence at the palace was to prevent the new emir from entering, but for security reasons.
And all this opposition from the government has drawn more sympathy to Sanusi, in fact even those that didn’t like him to become the Emir are now supporting him.
Also when riots broke out after announcing Sanusi as the new Emir, the police watched as hoodlums vandalized street lights without preventing them.
May be on orders from above, so that things would go out of hand and it would spread to Sabon Gari, where the hoodlums would attack Christians and Igbo and Kano would burn, while the Federal Government would bask in happiness that people hate Sanusi so much that the riot against his emergence as Emir claimed lives and property.
But we the people of Kano and all people of goodwill are praying fervently for peace to reign and for God not to allow our enemies to cause  problems in Kano.
You also hear people mostly southerners, saying that the office of the president is more powerful than that of the Emir of Kano. But you may ask, why then is the government so obsessed with it , and why did the president not congratulate him?
And now the latest story in town is that as soon as Sanusi comes out of the Government House he would be arrested.
I hope it is not true, because the issue now is beyond Sanusi as a ‘common’ former CBN Governor. He is now the Emir of Kano.  He is the fourth in line of hierarchical order; The Sultan of Sokoto is first, followed by the Shehu of Borno , then the Emir of Gwandu, then  the Emir of Kano.
Besides, the Emir is not just a symbol of tradition, but of Islamic religion. They are supposed to be  Islamic scholars  that can lead people according to Islamic teachings. After all the Jihad of Usman Dan Fodio in 1804 against the Hausaland rulers of that time that deviated from practising Islam was to revive the true teachings of Islam.
If the Emir of Kano were to be arrested, then our emirs should better find what to tell their people .By the way,  Sanusi might have come to change some anomalies in the Emirate System.
But the government should please let us be, it should concentrate on finding the abducted Chibok girls and others that were abducted among other pressing national issues.
