This year’s edition, designed for children between ages 7 and 14 is themed: Dance, Music and Storytelling and will run from 10th – 15th of August 2015 with a party on the last day to mark the end the year’s workshop.
The worksop will hold at the Shehu Musa Yaradua Centre from 8am – 5pm daily Monday – Friday and 10 am – 12 noon on Saturday.
The Treasured Writers was birthed in 2007 by foremost broadcaster/writer Mrs. Eugenia Abu, who is also the Executive Director Programmes NTA Headquatres, Abuja and is aimed at teaching children creative writing while they have fun with resource persons from different fields.
Some of the features of the programme include lunch at an Indian restaurant, a movie at Silverbird, fitness through dance aerobics, choreography as well as lessons on how children can write their own columns amongst other things.
The Treasured Writers has enjoyed so much attention from children and parents, celebrities and the media and has hosted as guests, resource persons like leading Actress Kate Henshaw, cerebral Architect Kingsley Aduaka, Commonwealth literature Prize winner Tricia Nwaubani, NLNG shortlisted Poet Diego Akonyedo, award winning literary journalist Henry Akubuiro, celebrated cartoonist Obeess, Editor of Trust Newspaper/ Author Theophilus Abah and Caine prize shortlisted writers Elnathan John and Abubakar Ibrahim among others.
