The Science Secondary School Kafin Hausa from Jigawa state represented the North-west zone(states) in the NNPC National Quiz Competition Final. The school emerged overall 3rd which was held on Tuesday, 28 June 2016 in NNPC Towers Abuja after beating North East, South West and South East schools to emerge the 3rd after Abuja and Akwa Ibom (1st and 2nd positions respectively).
The astonishing point here is those that emerged 1st and 2nd are private schools, Loyola Schools of FCT Abuja that came 1st, it is a private school with a very conducive environment for teaching and learning with school fees of not less than N1m (one million Naira per year per child, per session). 
I want use this medium to appeal to the northern states governors to invest more in education in order to move the region forward because, whenever Nigerians gather to discuss the state of education in the country or the region in particular, we all seem to reach a consensus rather hurriedly, that our educational system has deteriorated for long, that is the reason why we want the area revisited to redeem its lost glory.  We hope new schools would be built and some dilapidated ones should be renovated. Let’s have good and standard schools across the region staffed and well equipped with functional libraries and laboratories to WAEC standard. Let classrooms have modern instructional technologies. Let’s get computers connected to the internet, projectors, auto-video and conferencing equipment all available.
Our governors should remember that teachers cannot perform miracles without necessary teaching and learning tools, so they should be provided frequently and distributed everywhere in the region (state). The welfare of staff is one area that must be considered. Salaries and other entitlement should be paid promptly. Scholarship should be awarded without sentiment.
Training and re-training of staff are supposed to be in place regularly all in order to improve and keep the staff up to date.  I agree with Samuel M. Lindsay, who once said “The quality of education and the level of educational attainment of a people determine the quality of its leaders and people”. Some students should be sent abroad to study in different areas of specializations in order to take region to a greater height At this juncture,  I feel it is worth celebrating and also to extol the able good leadership of the former state governor, Alhaji (Dr.) Sule Lamido who sanitized and improved the Jigawa educational sector in totality during his tenure.
We hope his Excellency, Alhaji Muhammad Badaru will maintain or even improve the educational sector as Lamido restructured it and left it. May Allah bless, Nigeria, bless Jigawa and bless Science Secondary School Kafin-Hausa.
