ROMA
By Anyanwu Roseben C.N.
I can try to explain this,
But then maybe I won’t.
It’s for the enlightened to see,
For those in the know to feel.
You can look for a monster within,
Tell yourself it’s an aberration
That I need exorcism or more
Because of what makes me happy.
I feel a release with the surge
As it purges pent up frustrations
I can flee this reality for another,
As another exits for his dream world.
Power, pleasure, pain, none matters,.
Yet all are felt in this great moment,
Then all is let out and the black returns,
I’m back to this reality of lies and woes,
Patiently waiting for the next in line.
PATH WAY
By Ameerah Adunola Garba
GGSS, Dutse, Abuja.
I was below but now I’m above
I was the tail and I’m now the head
I was in pieces now I’m in peace
I was in secure now I’m proud
All I had to do was to bow and pray
Then I found my PATHWAY.
I was fearful but now I’m bold
I was poor but now I’m rich
I was sick but now I’m healthy
I had to lie to learn the truth
And I have now found my PATHWAY
I was mocked amongst my friends
But now I’m praised
I was humiliated but now I’m worshipped
I was pushed away now I’m a force of attraction
All I had to do was to bow and pray
And I found my PATHWAY.
I swam through the ocean of confusion to find assurance
I climbed the mountain of pain to find relief
Gone through shackles of death to find life
I trekked through the road of illiteracy to find education
I have finally found my PATHWAY.
