The Zamfara impeachment saga

Zamfara State deputy governor, Barrister Mahdi Aliyu Muhammad Gusau

The drama playing out in Zamfara on the impeachment threat to the deputy governor, Mahdi Aliyu Mohammed Gusau, is really sad.

The law provides that a person can belong to a political party of their choice but in Zamfara and as it affects the deputy governor, this is not acceptable.

What the governor is doing to thwart the rights and freedom of his deputy is unlawful.

The refusal of Aliyu Muhammad Gusau to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) is based on his constitutional rights and he should not continue to be harassed because of this.

Governor Matawalle jumped from one party to another and served in various political positions.

The governor of Zamfara State should know that his victory to the number one seat of the state was not his own alone but with the much effort of his deputy governor.
