President of the Nigerian Cassava Growers Association Segun Adewumi, stated this during a press briefing on the Nigeria Cassava Project recently in Abuja.
Adewumi said the Madlion’s comments that ‘cassava farming is only comparable to the woman in pregnancy for nine months’ was wrong, adding that the crop is easy to cultivate and required few rains to grow.
Apparently reacting to the Zimbabwean farmer’s claims that there is Cyanide (harmful chemicals) in cassava flour, the growers stressed that cassava flour is now been used by many  bakers in the country, following the Federal Government’s intervention, insisting that “there is no Cyanide in cassava flour.”
Adewumi announced that a multi-billion naira cassava mill has been completed at Lusada, Ado-odo, in Ogun State recently.
 The plant has the capacity to mill 300 metric tonnes of cassava, every day, in addition to the existing facility which mills 270 metric tonnes, daily.
