A former deputy national chairman of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) and aspirant for the All Progressives Congress (APC) national chairmanship, Saliu Mustapha, has said he would rejig party administration if given the mandate at the February, next year, national convention.

Our correspondent reports that many aspirants, including former governors, have sprung up ahead of the convention.

Mustapha, who spoke with newsmen on Tuesday in Abuja, said his administration would enthrone discipline, internal democracy and strict adherence to the party’s constitution and manifesto.

He argued that piloting the affairs of the APC is not an exclusive right of former or serving governors but hinged on experience and ability to unite and navigate the party out of its challenges to achieve victory at elections.

He said he has the blessing of Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and other critical stakeholders of the party to run, stressing that there won’t be a cabal within the party under his watch if given the mandate.

“I’m bringing a lot on board. I want to see a party that promotes equity, fairness and justice. We will allow popular candidates to emerge and when popular candidates emerge based on their merit, then we don’t suffer the fear of election rigging.

“I will ensure popular candidates emerge based on their merit. There is need to arrive at a zoning formula to reduce acrimony. I will make APC an open book and not a cabal to itself. This idea of one-man show does not go down well,” he said.
