Speaking with Trustsports in a an interview, Erico said there appeared to be some good players on the list, but they lack the fire power to withstand the Argentines and other strong countries that they will be facing in South Africa.

Erico noted with regret the poor preparation the team has had towards the Mundial, describing it as very disappointing and not capable of bringing the best out of the Eagles when hostility commences in June.

“If we say we have the players, it may be acceptable to some extent. But, do we have a team? The answer is no. The players that we have are not among the so-called world class players. So, to bring the best out of such players, we need very serious preparations.

“Those preparations seem to be lacking for now. Since we have employed the new coach, he has not sat on the bench of our team to watch the boys. That means we have not been able to organise any friendly match for the Eagles.

“While those serious countries of the World have started engaging in friendly matches, we are still not sure of playing one. With these types of shoddy preparations, how do we expect our team to reach the semi finals in South Africa?” he quarried.

He described the situation the new Eagles handler finds himself as pathetic, saying the time is not just there for the Swede to do anything tangible before the football fiesta.

“However, I am very happy for the coach because he has earned about three months salaries now without having to do anything than going to Europe to monitor players. I don’t blame him, who will see easy money and reject it?

“I am very sure that at the end of the World Cup, the man will not come back to Nigeria, just like Westerhof and Bora did after the USA 1994 and France 1998 World Cups.

“After that we will have to start looking for another coach for the Super Eagles. That is our culture,” he said.
