Suspected thieves have invaded a farm and harvested beniseed belonging to a farmer, Mr. Enoch Emmanuel, at Yanbabu community in Yebu ward of Kwali Area Council of the FCT.
The farmer, who narrated the incident to Daily Trust on Tuesday, said the theft occurred on Sunday night.
He said he went to the farm on Monday morning with his wife to harvest the beniseed but discovered that almost half of the farm had already been harvested by unknown persons.
“The criminals invaded my farm on Sunday night with big sacks and took their time to harvest almost half of the beniseed. They filled their sacks and left,” he said.
He added that there were clear signs that the thieves had operated overnight.
“When I got there on Monday morning, I saw evidence of things they left behind and traces of motorcycle tyres where they parked before leaving,” he said.
Emmanuel said the suspected thieves also uprooted some yam tubers before escaping. He expressed sadness over the incident and said he prayed for nemesis to catch up with those responsible.
He also recalled that a similar incident happened last year to one of his neighbours, whose beniseed was harvested at night by hoodlums in the area.
When asked if he had reported the matter to security operatives, Emmanuel said he had not, explaining that he had placed curses on those responsible and left the matter to God.
