Suspected motorcycle thieves have killed a commercial cyclist, identified as Rabiu, and escaped with his motorcycle at Gofidna village in Jiwa, Abuja.
One Suleiman, a resident of the community, said the incident happened on Thursday night’s and that the Rabiu’s corpse was found in an uncompleted building.
Suleiman said the deceased picked the two suspects who posed as passengers from Zuba to Gofidna.
He said, “The deceased engaged them in a struggle just few metres to the village but they overpowered him and one of them used a hammer to hit him on his head.”
The witness said the motorcycle snatchers dragged the body into an uncompleted building near the village, dumped it there and went away with the motorcycle.
He said the body of the cyclist was discovered by some farmers on Friday morning after noticing a trail of blood.
He said some members of the motorcycle union from Zuba were immediately alerted and they came in company of the police to evacuate the corpse.
The FCT Police Command spokesman, CSP Anjuguri Manzah, could not be reached on the matter.
