Things not to do in the kitchen

There are many things that people do that should never be done in the kitchen; these can lead to accidents and fires.

Don’t use blunt knives
Ensure your knives are sharp at all times. A blunt knife will struggle to cut through anything and there is an increased risk that the knife will slip and can cause a serious cut. Sharp knives, on the other hand, will glide through any ingredient without the risk of slipping and reducing the risk of cuts that you will end up with if you don’t sharpen your knives regularly.
Don’t leave pan handles sticking out
As you rush past your stove, you knock the pan handle causing the hot meal to pour over you and the floor, this can lead to serious burns. Always ensure your pan handles are facing in, though ensure they are not over a turned on plate.
Don’t leave spills on the floor until you have finished cooking
A spill on the floor can lead to a serious fall in the kitchen. The kitchen is filled with cupboards and appliances that you can bang your head on, or even cut it open. Never leave spills on the floor, mop them up immediately ensuring the floor is dry before you continue cooking.
Don’t use hot water to defrost ingredients
This is a big NO, NO. Never defrost any food items using hot water. If you don’t have a microwave and you forgot to take the food out of the freezer, place it in cold water and allow it to defrost. Hot water introduces harmful bacteria; this can leave your entire family in bed with serious food poisoning.
