This is not the best way to protect our cultural values

While Rahama Sadau is in faraway India receiving award for the best actress in Nigeria, she is facing public bashing with expulsion (no more sanction) here in Nigeria, for hugging and cuddling certain ‘ClassicQ’ in a video.
As though the Northern States in reality are free from such tendencies, but in the truth, western civilization has robbed us of almost, if not all, our cultural and moral principles.
If the dispositions of the Hausa movie industry doesn’t serve to project or preserve our cultural values anymore, or in the whole doesn’t go down well with us, the best decision would be its complete closure. But that alone doesn’t safeguard our society against moral decay. Even as I type this few lines ship-load of Bollywood, Nollywood among other western movies are on their way to the north – a region that prohibits hugging in movies. Doesn’t that spell well our hypocrisy?
However, can we charitably say that there aren’t sex industries in the north – whose stakeholders and customers are, of course, core northerners? Rahmah’s crime or wrongdoing was hugging a musical artiste which was considered a taboo. Yet the same northerners condone indecent mode of dressing in Kannywood movies. All the dispositions and activities of Kannywood and its players are against our cultural norms and values, even as it is vast gaining acceptance. Daughters, sisters, wives put on sexually provocative dresses and we are like: “Wow! Baby you look so charming”.
Nonetheless, I think whosoever sanctioned Rahama was disturbingly bias.  If Rahama Sadau goes rusticated what then happens to Ali Nuhu?  Ali Nuhu, Sani Danja, Adams A Zango and assortment of likes, as we all know, has done more moral transgressions than any else, as far as Kannywood is concern; but these folks are expanding their Awards shelve by the day. There’s no gender divide in what is wrong. We had seemingly placed much sensitivity on a particular thing, leaving the others to go weird. That’s a very dangerous trend and certainly not the best way to protect our cultural values.
