From 1990 to date, we have not experienced any positive change; rather it has always been hardship and suffering. Most beneficiaries of the present democratic government are the so-called leaders and their families and their associates. On the other hand, the masses continue to endure bad roads, poor education, poor health facilities, bad water supply and untold penury and hardship, just to mention a few.
In the present democratic era, the masses are important only when it is time for election! We are mere tools that the bourgeois use to achieve their ulterior motives and, once they get what they want, are dumped like hot potatoes until the next election. They always corner our national fund in their vaults and use it to buy dangerous weapons and drugs to lure the youths in order to serve them and this ruins their lives.
 It is clear that those who suffer in making the dreams of these politicians come true are the ones that are dumped and forgotten. The masses are the catalyst of any success, but they are valueless and forgotten when such success is achieved. Let’s remember what our forefathers say “Your vote is your right and identity” the only thing that poor and innocent citizens (like you and I) can be proud of; so let’s think and use our votes wisely in choosing good representatives/leaders.
   Any good Nigerian should ask himself/herself the following questions:
1. Why are our social amenities always out of order?
2. Why is corruption endemic?
3. Why are some states always in crisis while others enjoy relative peace and development?
4. Why are the majority of Nigerians suffering and lack most basic things that even poorer African nations enjoy?
5. Why are there such wide class differences?
     My dear brothers and sisters, lets’ put hands together and confront this negative situation. We should choose leaders who are God-fearing and have the interest of their people at heart. We need leaders who will provide us with qualitative social amenities, fight corruption and have the zeal to address our current problems and crises, treat all citizens equally (like their families) and give them good education.
