Thousands of youths and women trooped to the streets of Kano to publicly declare Abdussalam Abdulkarim Zaura, popularly known as A.A. Zaura, as their preferred governorship candidate for the 2027 election.

The supporters, under the leadership of Honourable Iliyasu Hassan Gwazaye converged on various parts of the state marched in large numbers wearing customised T-shirts, caps and other clothing materials bearing Zaura’s portrait. Many also carried posters and banners with inscriptions such as: “People of Kano, we hereby endorse Zaura as our 2027 governorship candidate.”

The crowd, comprising men, women and young people, also waved APC flags and chanted solidarity songs in support of Zaura, who contested for the Kano Central senatorial seat under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2023.

The group said the rally was aimed at sensitising Kano residents on what they described as the need to elect A.A. Zaura as the next governor of the state, insisting that he remains the most qualified among all aspirants expected to join the 2027 race.

They urged the public to support their call for Zaura’s emergence, saying his leadership capacity and political experience make him their preferred choice for the state’s top job.
