The trial of former governor of Katsina state Ibrahim Shema has commenced at Katsina High Court 3 amidst tight Security, Daily Trust reports.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC had Since last year February 21st , 2017 dragged the former Governor Shema and three others before Court on a twenty two count charge of Criminal Breach of Trust and forgery amounting to the tune of N11b.
Daily Trust reports that a combined Security personnel from Department of State Security (DSS), Police and Civil Defence are mounting guards within and surrounding the court premises.
All roads leading to the state High Court have been barricaded with vehicles being turn backwards.
Commuters and residence of the area have to trek long distances amidst security questioning to get access to their places.
Already the presiding judge Justice Maikaita Bako has entered the court and proceedings have commenced in earnest with the accused persons former Katsina Governor Ibrahim Shema along side three others namely Sani Hamisu Makana, Lawal Ahmad Safana and Ibrahim Lawal Dankaba standing at the dock.
It could be recalled that During the court’s last sitting on February 13, it fixed April 10,11 and 12 for hearing on the substantive motion filed by the EFCC against the accused persons.
