Tijjaniyya not means of making money, sect leader declares

Followers of Tijjaniyya sect in Nigeria have been urged to desist from any act capable of tarnishing the good image of the sect.

The leader of the sect and representative of Sheikh Umarul Futi in Yanleman, Jigawa state, Sheikh Muhammad Makki Ibn Amadu TAL, made the plea at the annual meeting of Tijjaniyya followers held in Yanleman.

It comes amidst concern that some followers are gradually turning it into a business venture.

“Tijjaniyya sect is not a business venture or means of  enriching self. Rather it is a sect purely for propagating the teachings of Qur’an and Sunnah of the holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW),” said the leader.

“It is unfortunate that some followers have started turning the sect into a means of money making.

He further regretted that some bad elements in the sect had started introducing new things into the sect contrary to the teachings of Qur’an and Hadith of the holy Prophet.

“I want categorically state here that anything that contradicts Qur’an and Hadith is not part of Tijjaniyya. I also want to tell the world that the true followers of Tijjaniyya are not doing it for the safe of money or any worldly thing. Rather they join it for the sake of Allah.

Addressing the crowd, Ustaz Ahmad Limin, called on members of the sect to search for knowledge and uphold the teachings of Qur’an and Sunnah, noting that “This is the only solution to the situation we found ourselves.”

On his part, Ustaz Abubakar Ahmad Baro, urged Tijjaniyya followers to always put into practice the knowledge they acquired, noting, “No matter how knowledgeable you are, it will be wasteful to you if you will not put it into practice. We should fear Allah in all our undertakings.”
