TIME Honours Tahnoon bin Zayed for Driving $1.4 Trillion AI Investment

His Highness Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi, National Security Adviser, and Chairman of G42, has been named to the TIME100 AI 2025 list, recognising his pivotal role in advancing global artificial intelligence initiatives.
TIME highlighted Sheikh Tahnoon’s leadership in positioning the UAE as a major player in AI and cloud computing. It cited G42’s collaborations with global tech giants such as Microsoft and Cerebras Systems to build a cutting-edge portfolio of AI supercomputers.
The magazine also referenced Sheikh Tahnoon’s involvement in key international developments, including a March meeting with US President Donald Trump that preceded the announcement of a $1.4 trillion UAE investment in American AI infrastructure and related technologies over the next decade. In May, the Trump Administration followed up with plans to lift critical trade restrictions, further strengthening technological collaboration with the Middle East.
TIME further noted that Sheikh Tahnoon’s vision is driving the development of a 5-gigawatt data centre campus in Abu Dhabi, set to become the largest AI infrastructure project outside the United States.
Unveiled on Thursday, the TIME100 AI list is in its third edition and recognises the most influential leaders, innovators, shapers and thinkers in artificial intelligence. Sheikh Tahnoon features in the Shapers category, alongside Fei-Fei Li, Stuart Russell, Henna Virkkunen, Bosun Tijani and David Sacks.
Other notable figures on the list include Elon Musk, Sam Altman, Jensen Huang, Matthew Prince, Fidji Simo, Yoshua Bengio, Jeffrey Dean and Pope Leo XIV.
TIME said the 2025 list was compiled following months of research, consultations with industry leaders and recommendations from AI experts worldwide.
