Time resolve ASUU strike

Education is the engine room for speedy development. Most developed countries of the world allocate more resources and facilities for smooth teaching and learning.  It is unfortunate that Nigerians now travel to other countries, some less economically endowed, to acquire higher-level education. This is due to the negligence of the government over the years to the sector.

Members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) have for months now been on strike following the failure of the government to honour and implement the agreement reached in 2020. Non-academic staff later joined, which consequently led to a total shutdown of universities nationwide.

It is, therefore, important for both sides to resume dialogue to resolve their differences amicably. Government should undertake to implement all agreements reached at such meetings.

However, if all did not work, parents and students should stage peaceful and continuous protests against both parties until the issue is resolved.
