President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday commissioned a modern ablution centre at Sultan Bello Mosque in Kaduna, providing facilities for at least 300 worshippers to perform ablution simultaneously.
The project, funded by Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL) as part of its corporate social responsibility, also includes 50 restrooms with VIP sections and a 300,000-litre overhead water tank.
Tinubu, who was in Kaduna for the wedding of former Zamfara Governor Abdul’Aziz Yari’s son, described the initiative as “a testimony to unity and corporate social responsibility across Nigeria’s regions.”
Before the intervention, the mosque relied on a small, overstretched ablution facility that could not cater to its large congregation, especially during Friday Juma’at prayers. With the upgrade, uninterrupted water supply is now assured for both the mosque and the Ungwan Sarki community.
Earlier, President Tinubu attended the wedding fatiha of Senator Abdulaziz Yari’s son at the Sultan Bello Mosque in Kaduna, amid heavy security presence.
The president, who arrived Kaduna around 1pm, was received at the airport by Governor Uba Sani, Senate President Akpabio, Speaker Abbas, Deputy Senate President Jibrin and other top dignitaries before heading to the mosque.
Shaikh Bala Lau, in his pre-Juma’at sermon, described the wedding as “a very important event,” noting the significance of the personalities who gathered to honour Senator Abdulaziz Yari’s family.
The wedding, which held immediately after the Juma’at prayers around 1:30pm, attracted a large crowd of dignitaries including state governors, ministers, serving and former lawmakers, clerics and traditional leaders.
Security was tight around the venue as only invited guests were allowed into the mosque. Other worshippers performed their prayers outside due to restrictions. Plain-clothes operatives and uniformed security personnel were stationed at strategic locations leading to the mosque.
After the wedding, President Tinubu, accompanied by the Kaduna State governor, Uba Sani and other top government officials, proceeded to the residence of the late President Muhammadu Buhari, where he was received by his widow, Aisha Buhari, family members, Katsina State governor, Dikko Radda and Buhari’s son, Yusuf.
Aisha Buhari thanked the president for the visit.
