A coalition of civil society organisations under the banner of the Grassroots Mobilisation Initiative (GMI) has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu and Mr Seyi Tinubu for what it described as a grassroots-driven approach to governance under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The coalition conveyed its position in a letter addressed to the President at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The letter, signed by the National Coordinator of GMI, Samaila Musa, was also endorsed by the Democracy Watch Initiative (DWI) and the Congress of Nigerian Youths and Civil Society Organisations (CONYSO).

According to the group, the administration’s approach reflects a “three-dimensional model” involving the leadership of the President, humanitarian interventions by the First Lady and youth mobilisation initiatives associated with Seyi Tinubu.
Musa said the coalition had observed what it described as increased efforts to bring governance closer to communities at the grassroots.

“As active observers of Nigeria’s democracy, we have noted that the strength of this administration lies in its three-dimensional approach: the leadership of the President, the outreach programmes of the First Lady and youth mobilisation efforts,” he said.

He said the administration’s policies and programmes, including the Renewed Hope Ward Development Programme and infrastructure initiatives under the Renewed Hope Cities and Estates project, were aimed at improving living conditions and creating opportunities for citizens.

The coalition also commended the First Lady for her humanitarian activities through the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), noting that programmes targeted at addressing child malnutrition and empowering women had reached vulnerable groups across the country.

It further referenced recent efforts encouraging the wives of state governors to expand the reach of the initiative at the state level.

On youth engagement, the group noted that activities associated with Seyi Tinubu and the City Boy Movement had focused on mobilising young people and encouraging their participation in governance and community development.

The coalition urged the administration to sustain what it described as an open and inclusive style of governance that promotes closer engagement between leadership and citizens at the grassroots.
