As early as 7am, hundreds of people of the ancient city of Maiduguri trooped out to attend the wedding ceremony, with some youths dressed in colourful attires holding Nigeria’s and APC flags to welcome dignitaries.

A former governor of Bauchi State and national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Ahmed Adamu Mu’azu, stood in for the groom and accepted the wedding vow from the Borno State governor, Babagana Umara Zulum who stood in for the bride.

Zulum accepted the dowry worth 12 gold coins.

Similarly, the Maiduguri International Airport fleet was also filled with private jets flown in by prominent personalities and politicians who went to grace the event.

Our correspondent who visited the Maiduguri International Airport on Saturday morning observed a large number of private jets.

The ceremony also caused heavy traffic gridlock, especially along the roads leading to the Shehu’s palace and the city centre for more than three hours, apart from numerous security vehicles blaring sirens in the city.
