The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, on Friday assured that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has no challenge winning Benue State in the 2027 presidential election.

Akume cited what he described as the president’s remarkable performance and inclusive style of governance which will compel voters to return him to power.

The SGF who spoke to journalists on arrival from Abuja at the Makurdi airport ahead of the APC presidential primary scheduled for Saturday, said he was in the state to mobilise support for Tinubu, insisting that the president enjoys massive acceptance among Nigerians and particularly among Benue voters.

He said that Tinubu’s commitment to patriotism and national unity has earned him approval across the country, stressing that opposition voices remain part of democratic practice but do not diminish the achievements of the administration.

Akume expressed confidence that APC supporters in Benue would turn out en masse to vote for the president during the primary election, adding that Tinubu would ultimately return to the Presidential Villa in 2027.

He also called for unity within the All Progressives Congress, warning against factionalisation in the party. 

He said the founding fathers of the APC envisioned a united political family and not a divided structure weakened by internal disputes.

The SGF while reacting to concerns raised during previous elections, said he received reports of diversion of electoral materials but declined extensive comments because he was not physically present at the time. 

He however, expressed optimism that future elections would be more credible and free from such irregularities.

Akume while drawing from his long experience in politics since 1998, added that Benue people are resilient and politically conscious, noting that voters always know the right decision to make and would demonstrate it at the appropriate time.
