The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, was in Minna, the Niger State capital yesterday for his campaign ahead of next year’s poll.

Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos State, during the visit, endorsed the governorship candidate of the APC in the state, Umar Mohammed Bago.

However, he did not address the crowd of his supporters who came out en masse for the campaign rally due to rowdiness.

Tinubu later commissioned his campaign office in Minna, where he simply said “I inaugurate this office to the well-being of Nigerians and to the good health of the people.”

The office was donated by the Blueprint newspaper publisher and chairman, Strategic Communications of the Asiwaju Bola Tinubu Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Alhaji Mohammed Idris Malagi, who also donated operational vehicles and tricycles for the Tinubu campaign.

Tinubu was accompanied by his running mate, Kashim Shettima; Senate President Ahmed Lawan;  Niger State Governor Abubakar Sani Bello; Atiku Bagudu (Kebbi); Abubakar Badaru (Jigawa); Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos);  Babagana Zulum (Borno); Abdullahi Sule (Nasarawa); Abdullahi Ganduje (Kano) and Simon Bako Lalong (Plateau) who is also the Director-General of the Presidential Campaign Council.

A statement from the Tinubu Media Office signed by Tunde Rahman yesterday said Tinubu was overwhelmed by the crowd of supporters who thronged to the venue for the rally.

Part of the statement reads, “Tinubu who had come with a prepared speech had to abandon the speech to just express his gratitude to the people.

“Before heading back to Abuja, the APC presidential candidate paid a courtesy call on the Emir of Minna, Alhaji Umar Farouk Bahago, and inaugurated two campaign offices donated by Senator Sani Musa Mohammed and Alhaji Mohammed Idris.

“In the prepared speech that he couldn’t read, Tinubu promised to ensure that Niger State and indeed all states in Nigeria reap the benefits of the resources they have.”
