Minister of Works, Engr. Dave Umahi, says President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima were divinely ordained to reset Nigeria.
Slamming the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over its criticism of the Supreme Court verdict which affirmed the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the February Presidential election, he said it was “unethical and unprofessional” of the PDP to criticise the judiciary when its judgement doesn’t favour it and turn around to praise the judiciary when the verdict is in its favour.
He spoke on the sideline of his inspection of bridges in Lagos State.
Umahi also congratulated himself for leaving the PDP when the ship of the party was about “to sink.”
He said, “Let me congratulate President Bola Ahmed Asiwaju. Of course he is a divine President and I have been saying this from the time of campaign that the President and Vice are divine gifts to this country.
“We need very serious intervention from these like-minded people to reset the country. Our country needs to be reset in all sectors of our development and so I give all the glory to God Almighty for the victory we had two days ago.
“I thank the judiciary very highly and let me remark as one of the leaders in this country that it is unethical and unprofessional for the opposition party to praise the judiciary when they sack APC elected officials and when the PDP people are sacked, they criticise the judiciary.
“This is unlike the leadership of any country. We have to be patriotic to our country, we have to put our country first. This is very important and let me announce that the job that God sent Asiwaju and Vice-President Shettima to do is to put the country first and this is just what they are doing in the past few months that they assumed office and we have no choice but to support them.”
Umahi further stated that the entire South-East remains fully in support of the APC despite the Labour Party (LP’s) onslaught in the last election, saying he was convinced from day one that the LP would not make much impact.
“I also congratulate myself as an APC chieftain who left the ship of PDP when it was going to sink. It was a divine revelation for me and all the APC members in Ebonyi State and the APC members in the South East.
“Let me say that it is important for the South East people to continue to support the President. It is time for them to forget about all these rumours of Obidients or this and that. I knew from day one that nothing was going to happen, I knew and I was very bold in saying that.”
