The Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN) has urged President Bola Tinubu to deal with the continuous hike in the price of food stuff.

YOWICAN made this known in a communiqué issued on Friday in Abuja at the end of its 2nd quarter National Executive Council (NEC) meeting.

The communiqué which was signed by Belusochukwu Enwere, President of YOWICAN, noted that the persistent rise in prices resulted in the hardship currently being experienced nationwide.

“The NEC still wishes to draw the attention of Mr President to the persistence hardship in the country which is occasion by the constantly raising cost of living in the country which has resulted to an unprecedented level of hunger and suffering experienced by over 2million citizens of Nigeria of which our members are not exempted from.

“We plead with Mr. President to address the unchecked daily rise in food  prices in the market,” it said.

The NEC also distanced itself from the planned nationwide protest over the current economic hardship in the country.

“The NEC wishes to state in clear terms that it dissociates itself from any form of forthcoming protest organized to demonstrate hardship or bad governance by unknown individuals across the country.

“We are hopeful that the steps taken so far by the Government and with constant support and cooperation of all Nigerians, we shall get through this difficult moment. The NEC has resolved into prayers and constant engagement with the Government until things get better for the nation.”
