The Niger Delta Citizens Watch for Peace and Development, NCWPD, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to urgently intervene in what it described as a serious effort to breach military integrity within the Niger Delta region.

The group’s president, Eric Udom, in a statement said there are credible reports of an alleged collusion between certain military forces.

This alliance is purportedly designed to influence military operations for personal gains.

“The stability of our nation hangs in the balance. It is crucial that our military remains a neutral entity, free from the clutches of vested interests,” Udom stated.

The coalition fears that such manipulations could erode the trust of the Nigerian youth in their nation’s institutions, especially the military, which is expected to embody honor and impartiality.

The group’s concern extended to potential impacts on the security of the Niger-Delta and the integrity of the nation’s defense structures.

The group urged President Tinubu to convene with Service Chiefs and ensure transparency and accountability within the military ranks.

“The security of the Niger-Delta, and indeed the entire nation, is at stake. If left unchecked, these actions could have grave consequences for the peace and prosperity of our nation,” Udom warned.

“Mr. President, heed our call. Command the security heads to restore the sanctity of the military’s mission. We stand with you in the fight against corruption and the quest for a united, prosperous Nigeria.”
