The Kaduna State Government has debunked claims that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was nearly attacked during his recent visit to the state, clarifying a viral video that circulated on social media.

On Thursday, while President Tinubu was addressing a crowd at the Murtala Square during the commissioning of several projects, a short clip surfaced showing security agents intercepting a yet-to-be identified man who approached the stage. In the video, Tinubu momentarily paused and calmly said, “Leave him alone,” before continuing his speech.

The video stirred intense online debate, with some social media users suggesting an attempt to stone the president or an attack.

However, Ibraheem Musa, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Uba Sani, clarified during a Trust Radio interview on Friday that there was no such attack or pelting. He described the individual in question as a supporter who was eager to greet the president and express his admiration.

“Kaduna people massively welcomed Tinubu, and the state was agog. The young man was just trying to show his love to the president. The president was even happy and asked the security men to leave him alone. People are just trying to tarnish the image of Kaduna people,” Musa said.

Controversy also trailed the decision to rename the newly commissioned specialist hospital after President Tinubu instead of the project initiator, former Vice President Namadi Sambo.

However, Musa dismissed concerns, stating that “Even the former Vice President was happy to see that. The relationship between the president and the governor didn’t start today. There is nothing political here.”

Responding to another viral video that purportedly showed Tinubu’s posters being vandalised by youths in Rigachikun area, Musa labeled the footage as “doctored” describing it as an attempt to discredit the visit.

During his visit, President Tinubu commissioned key projects executed by the Kaduna State Government under Governor Uba Sani.
