Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said the projects being executed across Abuja and its satellite communities are already changing the political landscape in favour of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections.
Wike stated this yesterday after inspecting several ongoing projects across the territory, insisting that residents were responding positively to the visible impact of governance under the Tinubu administration.
According to him, the outcome of the recent area council elections in the FCT, where the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) won five out of six chairmanship seats, was an early sign of the changing voting pattern in the nation’s capital.
“We already saw signs of change in the voting pattern in the FCT during the area council elections where, for the first time, the ruling party won in places it had never won before,” he said.
The minister attributed the shift to the administration’s focus on infrastructure development, especially in rural communities and satellite towns previously neglected.

“What the people want is simple; they want to feel the impact of governance and that is what President Tinubu is giving to them,” he added.

Wike said the administration’s achievements in road construction, water supply, electricity and urban renewal had improved living conditions and strengthened public confidence in government.

He argued that the visible transformation across the FCT would naturally translate into electoral support for Tinubu in future elections.

The minister also expressed satisfaction with the pace of work on several ongoing projects expected to be inaugurated as part of activities marking Tinubu’s third year in office.

Among the projects inspected were the Court of Appeal Complex in Dakibiyu, Judges’ Quarters in Katampe, the Collector Road CN2, Gaduwa District Road, and the Apo Mechanic Village relocation site in Wasa.

Wike said most of the projects were nearing completion, with contractors already working on finishing touches such as streetlights, walkways and water connections.

The Minister also revealed that President Tinubu is expected to personally commission key projects located in rural communities and satellite towns, particularly road and water infrastructure projects aimed at improving the living conditions of residents outside the city centre.
