Tiwa Savage will play the lead in the upcoming film ‘Water and Garri’. She is also involved in the project as an executive producer.

The singer-songwriter assumes the role of the character, Aisha, a prominent fashion designer in the US who, after a family loss, returns to her own country after a 10-year absence.

As she comes home, she discovers that things have changed. Tensions are rising, and the violence has increased. She must learn to live with her scars and face the shame she left behind as she reconnects with her family, her old friends, and her former love.

Commenting on her role in the movie, Tiwa said, “This project was a complete labor of love that has been a dream of mine for a number of years. Performing as Aisha allowed me to be totally vulnerable and pushed me to express myself in a way that I’ve never done before. It was an honor to share my debut as an actress in a leading role with Meji while filming on the African continent with a cast and crew that I have immense admiration for and respect for. I’m excited for the world to see this film.”
