Reiterating the importance of Ramadan, the cleric said the annual spiritual sojourn was divinely decreed for the spiritual rebirth of Muslims.
“Any Muslim who engages the month with all sense of righteousness has boarded the ship to eternal salvation,” he said.
Imam Zakariya advised Muslim faithful to prepare spiritually, physically, financially and intellectually for the month.
He urged them to get themselves revved up for the blessed month by setting out schedules of acts of worship and have specific outlined goals to be achieved.
“Pay up missed days from the previous month of Ramadan, understand the jurisprudence of what ought to and not with regards to the month, stay healthy throughout the month, attend tafseer sessions, wake at night and observe your daily prayers in congregation, keep close contact with your kit and kin and your extended acquaintance, understand your itinerary and plan your activities properly” he advised.
Dr Abdulqadir Adeleye, while contributing to the discourse, took the attendees through “staying healthy, before, during and after Ramadan”.
He emphasised the significance of fasting in human life, saying it holds lots of health benefits.
