To improve learning of English, ban vernacular in schools

Today, the students of primary, secondary and even tertiary institutions across the country cannot speak correct English; rather they speak pidgin and broken English. It is imperative, therefore, for the government at all levels to provide the necessary equipment and employ well-trained individuals for despatch to all levels of education.
Similarity, students should be encoura-ged to inculcate the habit of reading books and other materials that will help them to improve their proficiency in spoken and written English.
However, student should always engage in using dictionaries and discussing with people of superior learning so as to speak correct and acceptable English anywhere they find themselves.
Moreover, the federal, state and local governments should provide the students with adequate teaching and learning facilities and also to provide them with the atmosphere conducive to learning.
Therefore, schools, colleges and universities should ban the speaking of vernacular languages; rather the students should be engaged to speak the second language which is regarded as the English language not to speak their mother tongue. With this the teaching and learning of English language would be improved.
