Golfers from over 10 African countries will compete for a share of the N50 million purse at the 2025 eTranzact Golf Classic, scheduled for June 12–14 at Lakowe Lakes Golf Club, Lagos.
The event, now in its third edition under the Professional Golf Development (PGD) Tour, continues to gain prestige across the continent.
Organisers confirmed that the prize purse has already drawn entries from elite golfers across Ghana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Kenya, Cameroon, Togo, and Côte d’Ivoire. Notably, the tournament will, for the first time, feature lady professionals, signalling a new era of inclusivity in African golf.
The PGD Tour Chairman, Wole Abegunde, praised eTranzact’s commitment to youth and sports development, calling the partnership “a new milestone in sports sponsorship, especially golf.”
He added: “This championship is a testament to how strategic partnerships can harness the potential of young athletes, fostering not only sporting excellence but also innovation and collaboration that drive economic growth.”
eTranzact MD/CEO Niyi Toluwalope reaffirmed the company’s investment in the sport, stating: “As one of Africa’s leading fintechs, we recognise the strategic importance of this partnership with the PGD Tour.”
Two-time champion Francis Epe, who won in 2023 and 2024, remains a central figure in the tournament’s growing legacy.
PGD Tour Commissioner, Femi Olagbenro, emphasized the Tour’s mission to elevate African talent: “Our goal is to use the PGD Tour platform to expose local golf talents to the global stage.”
He added that strong corporate support, including eTranzact’s involvement, underscores the Tour’s value as a trusted vehicle for impactful sponsorships.
