Senator Dino Melaye, spokesperson for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential campaign council, has likened Peter Obi, Presidential Candidate of Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, to a president who would slap his Aide De Camp (ADC).
Aide-de-camp is a French expression which literally means helper in a military camp. The ADC is a personal assistant or secretary to a person of high rank, usually a president.

During a town hall meeting in Abuja on Sunday, Obi confronted Melaye for allegedly describing some unruly persons as his supporters.
“You see what is happening here now. This man is from NNPP yet Dino is saying Peter Obi people. Why are you calling him Obi people? I won’t take it. Stop that Dino. Why are you always calling me? I won’t take that. I have heard enough from you. Stop that, Dino,” Obi had said angrily.
Responding in a video on Monday, Melaye sought apology from Obi, saying his action was unpresidential.
“I am doing this video just to clarify the outburst by Peter obi, the presidential candidate of the Labor Party yesterday. He was not provoked, I was sitting far opposite the top seat where they were sitting, I didn’t mention his name and I was really surprised to see that kind of outburst from the presidential candidate. Is that the kind of president he’s going to make, showing unpresidential character, the way he acted yesterday was very very wrong, he’d rather call me out because I didn’t do anything, I didn’t call his name, where I was sitting, there is nothing that I said that Peter Obi would have heard.
“So that outburst is unwarranted very unpresidential, very unacceptable as a leader, a leader must be mature, one who wants to govern this country must be accommodating, he must have a lot of patience, must have perseverance, this are basic characteristics of any leader in the world, you want to be the president of Nigeria and you’re reacting in such a manner in public and, this one go slap ADC in office as president. So, I want to clear the air that I didn’t do anything to him, he was so provoked and so carried away by the performance of Governor Okowa that he was saying that somebody outside is from ANPP, does that make sense? Is there any party like ANPP in Nigeria today? ANPP collapsed in 2014 when they all amalgamated and went together to form APC but he was so disorganized, so disoriented that he was saying that the person outside is from ANPP, is there any party like ANPP in Nigeria today? Next time when you want to go for a debate, be as calm as Governor Okowa, be as calm as the PDP presidential candidate but that was very unpresidential and I deserve an apology thank you very much.”
