The Nigerian Institute of Town Planners (NITP) FTC Chapter, said it is set to hold its Town Planners Week from September 15 to 16 at the NAF Conference Centre, Kado, Abuja.
Tpl. Mukhtar Galadima, Chairman, Organising Committee of the event, said the theme for this year’s activity is “Urban and Regional Planning Practice in the Era of Change” with a sub theme “Urban and Regional Planning: A Veritable Tool for Good Urban Governance” and “The Imperatives of Advocacy Planning in the Acquisition and Development of Land in the FCT”.
He said the choice of the theme was in tandem with global trends and apt with the current mantra of change, especially under the current Nigerian administration.
Galadima said all over the world now there was gradual transformation from the traditional master planning approach to incremental planning approach, gradual departure from individual transport ownership to mass transit and from motor cities to pedestrian cities.
He said part of the activities included discussion, exhibitions as well as award presentations.
Chairman, NITP FCT Chapter, Tpl. Garba Kwamkur, said the governors of Imo, Gombe and Nasarawa states have been invited to lead the discussions at the event in view of their political tenacity and the challenges in their states.
