If you already own an American spec Toyota you may want to check the floor mat. The carmaker has identified problems with the floor mats and the accelerator pedal as the causes of unintended sudden acceleration in the cars.
The problem also has been compounded by poor communications both within the company and with regulators, media, dealers and customers-putting people at a state of confusion.
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has assured that it would continue its surveillance of the border areas. Even as that takes place the public will have still need to watch out carefully for models not bought with TNL especially American spec that are of driven because it cheaper bring them down from there.
Clearly the public needs to watch carefully for product the by making consultation with expert in the automotive industry in Nigeria. But in the meantime it would be wise for Toyota owners to apply safe or emergency driving when called for (see column on better driving: emergency driving)
