A 57-year-old trader, identified as Malam Jamilu Adamu, has been reportedly robbed of N723,000 cash and then pushed out of a moving vehicle by suspected one-chance robbers near Yangoji-iri village, along the Abuja-Lokoja highway.

The victim, who is a resident of Kwaita village in Kwali Area Council of the FCT, while narrating the incident to our reporter on Tuesday, said it happened on Saturday while he was on his way to Suleja to buy provisions.

He said he boarded a vehicle by the road side at Kwaita around 6am, adding that shortly after Priri village, near Yangoji, the driver stopped to check his vehicle.

He said he was seated in the front while two adult male and female passengers were seated at the back.

He said when the driver was checking the car, he went out to urinate, but that when he returned to the vehicle, the driver had already started the car. “He pushed me out and zoomed off.”

He said, “As we were going, just shortly after Piri village, the driver complained that his car was sounding somehow and he parked and opened the bonnet.

‘’So, I came out of the car to urinate, while the driver closed the bonnet and started the car. As I just entered the car and was about to close the door, the driver pushed me out and zoomed off.”

Adamu, who owns a provision shop in Kwaita, said the driver escaped with his N723,000 cash inside a small bag he was carrying, adding that he sustained bruises on his knees and hands when he was pushed out of the car.

Our reporter also learnt that a similar incident happened last Thursday when a trader from Gada-Biyu village, Rabiu Ado, was said to have been robbed of N1,250,000 by suspected one-chance robbers in a car he boarded to Gwagwalada market to buy goods.

It was gathered that the suspects forced the victim to transfer the said money to them through mobile transfer while he was seated in the car’s back seat in the middle of two young men.

Abuja Metro learnt that the victim was later pushed out of the moving vehicle between Pai junction and Dabi village, along the expressway.

Efforts to reach the FCT police spokeswoman, Josephine Adeh, yielded no result as at the time of filing the report.
