Traders at Jos New Market and other residents around the market are lamenting the poor condition of the road leading to the market.

Last year, Benue/Plateau reported how the traders and residents around the market complained about the road and the damages caused due to its condition.

They said the road, which has been abandoned for five years, had continued to deteriorate due to the heavy rainfall being experienced now.

Alhaji Sabo Fari, who is the chairman of the market, said occupants of the markets and the residents around it had been facing lots of difficulties due to the  poor condition of the road, saying the dust during dry season had destroyed their properties worth millions of naira and in the rainy season, customers hardly patronise the market.

He said: “The dust alone has caused lots of problems. It has affected our health and our businesses are seriously affected. This is a less than one kilometre road. We find it difficult to understand the reason behind the delay in the work. We have really supported this government during the election thinking that things would go well but to our surprise, this road is yet to be completed.

“The road is not more than 600 metres. This is our government because we supported it during the election. We are begging Governor Lalong to come to our aid. The road is still deteriorating,” he added.
