Traders under the aegis of South-East Amalgamated Markets Traders Association (SEAMATA) have decried the confiscation of their goods by clearing agencies and others at the nation’s ports.
In a Save-Our-Soul appeal sent to the National Assembly co-signed by the President of the association, Chief Gozie Akudolu, and his Secretary, Alex Okwudiri, the traders said that most of their members raised funds through bank loans and overdrafts to import goods from Asia and Europe.
They said that some of the consignments arrived the ports shortly before and during lockdown of the nation’s ports.
They urged NASS to prevail on the handling agencies to release their consignments that had continued to attract demurrage not caused by the traders.
