A traditional ruler in Katsina State has been kidnapped, Daily Trust reports.
Babangida Lawal, who is the Ward Head of Zandam village in Jibia local government, was abducted alongside one Murtala Rabe, a businessman in the village, local sources said.
The kidnappers reportedly stormed the village on Sunday night, broke into the homes of their victims and whisked them away.
It was further gathered that some residents who tried to rescue the victims were severely injured in the process.
No ransom has so far been placed on them by the abductors.
It was further learnt that in the neighbouring villages of Gurbi Magarya, some cows were rustled by the same suspected bandits.
When contacted, the spokesman of Katsina State Police Command, SP Gambo Isah, confirmed the incident, noting that the “police are making effort to rescue them.”
