Traditional ruler donates food items to malnourished children

District Head of Ketare, Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara has donated 30 bags of assorted grains to Health Department of Kankara Local Government for onward sharing to malnourished children in the area.

The assorted grains donated include soya beans, maize, corn, beans and groundnut.

Presenting the materials to the local government authorities, Kankara said the items were donated to food and nutrition unit of the health department following a request by the unit during a sensitization tour in the area.

He charged officials of the council to fear Allah and use the items for the purpose they were meant for.  He also directed all village heads in the district to mobilize their needy subjects to ensure they benefit from the donation.

Receiving the food items, the head of administration department of the local government, Alhaji Bishir Mai Kano Mashi commended the commitment of the district head towards uplifting the living standard of people in his domain.

Mashi promised to make judicious use of the food items and thanked the district head, who is also the Kanwa of Katsina, for the fatherly role he played during the measles and polio immunization exercises in the area and urged him to maintain the tempo.

The food and nutrition officer of the area, Hajia Amina Ibrahim said three centers would be opened at Ketare, Gundawa and Gurbi where the donated food would be served to nursing mothers and children.
