Angry youths of Oghoghobi community in Ikpoba-Okha local government area of Edo State have attacked the palace of their traditional ruler Kingsley Omorose over the killing of the community’s ex-youth leader.

Following the attack, the traditional ruler was said to have fled the community for safety.

It was gathered that the youths stormed the palace on Sunday after gunmen had killed a former youth chairman of the community, Mr. Lambert Igbinomwahia, at his residence.

It was further gathered that after the killing, the villagers stormed the traditional ruler’s palace and destroyed it.

A resident, who craved anonymity, said the traditional ruler was attacked because of several threats he has made to the deceased.

Mother of the deceased, Magdalene, said the traditional ruler had called the deceased and told him to stop selling land but “my son said he has not been selling land.”

She then called on the security agencies to unravel the killers of her son.

Meanwhile the embattled traditional ruler described the allegations against him as lie and a ploy to tarnish his image.

The traditional ruler, who spoke on phone on Monday, said he can’t plan evil against his subject.

He however confirmed that there was a pending issue between the deceased and community.

The Edo State Commissioner of Police Haliru Gwandu said policemen have been drafted to the area to prevent break down of law and order.
