The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Muhammad Musa Bello, has urged traditional rulers and residents to see themselves as waste to wealth ambassadors.

He said they should also educate others on the need to desist from open defecation and indiscriminate dumping of refuse.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Anthony Ogunleye, the minister also called on all FCT stakeholders to help in keeping the territory clean.

He made the call at the commemoration of the 2019 World Habitat Day by the FCT Administration, with the theme ‘Frontier Technologies as Innovative Tools to Transform Waste to Wealth.”

The minister, who said the task of environmental sanitation and protection should not be left to the government alone, stressed that all stakeholders, starting from the traditional ruler to the ward head and the family unit should be involved.

In his welcome address, the Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) Engr. Gambo Umar Jibrin, said the deployment of appropriate technologies was not negotiable in transforming the abundant waste materials in society to other useful purposes to promote wealth creation.
