Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has resolved to take further steps towards tackling the protracted traffic congestion at Dutse Alhaji roads,  by fencing the market and sealing off  all unnecessary multiple entry points.

The Chairman,  FCT ministerial task team on traffic free flow,  Ikharo Attah, stated this when he, alongside  some Engineers from  the  Federal  Capital Development Authority ( FCDA) Abuja Environmental Protection Board (  AEPB) ,  Department of Development Control and officials of Bwari Area Council, visited the troubled spots for a pre-construction inspection.

Attah said the new development was in line with the commitment and passion  of FCT Minister, Mallam Muhammad Musa Bello, to end traffic gridlock across the FCT.

He pointed out that the multiple entry points into the market from the main roads are sources of the disturbing traffic gridlock.

Attah said, “It is a common knowledge in planning that access to property is not allowed from primary roads.”

He added that  after  the fencing work, major entry points into the market would be from the roads inside Dutse Alhaji.

The  Head of Enforcement and Operations at the Abuja Environmental Protection Board, (AEPB)  Mr.  Kaka Bello, who was part of the inspection team said decision to fence the market was in the overall best interest of millions of road users and in compliance with the approved plan for area.

While FCDA engineers assured that the work would soon commence, officials of Bwari area council and market associations have  pleaded that a small entrance point be provided by the primary road.
