Traffic eases as new road to Nyanya, Karu opens

The  new Inner Southern Express Way which opened to trafic on Thursday has eased commuting from the City centre to the Nyanya- Karu-Mararaba axis.

The road by-passes the extended distances between AYA and Apo Roundabout as well as the Murtala Muhammed way and Aso drive.

Minister of Information Alhaji Lai Muhammed  officially commissioned the road Thursday.

Mohammed said, the road now makes it easy for motorists to drive straight on to most parts of the Central Business District avoiding possible gridlocks.

He commended the FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, for the massive investments in the development of infrastructure and his commitment to completing ongoing projects.

The Information Minister observed that these roads are bound to have very positive impacts on both the economy and physical development of the Federal Capital Territory.

He said the stage of work on the ISEX road as well as the Villa Roundabout have opened up the city more and enhanced its navigability.

He said, this has become timelier especially when viewed against the foreground of the various international conferences billed for Abuja next year.

Lai Mohammed lauded the FCT Minister for awarding and delivering the Villa Roundabout Bridge and Interchange project which was a major component of the Outer Northern Expressway (ONEX), which has since been named Murtala Mohammed Expressway.

Speaking to newsmen during the brief opening ceremony, the FCT Minster, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello said “the interchange and the entire ISEX road project which begins from the AYA major junction across the Central Area to Galadima District fits into the programme of this administration to complete on-going projects that have the greatest benefits to the greatest number of people.”

The FCT Minister said said these major FCC arterial roads would breathe a fresh air into the city while expressing optimism that they would bring about a dramatic improvement in the transportation, commercial and cultural lives of the city.
