Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have intercepted consignments of cocaine and opioids concealed in sanitary pads and hair cream containers at three courier firms in Lagos State meant for delivery in the UK, Ireland and Cyprus.

In one of the logistics companies, about 30 parcels of cocaine weighing 1.1kg were discovered concealed in hair cream containers during examination of cargos going to Ireland on September 3, 2024.

In a statement on Sunday, the agency’s spokesman, Femi Babafemi, further said, “Another consignment of 24 parcels of cocaine weighing 862g, also hidden in hair cream containers meant for delivery in the UK, was equally intercepted at the same company on Friday, 6th September.”

He said operatives equally intercepted another consignment of tramadol buried in granulated melon that came from Cameroon and was going to South Africa on September 6.

He added that no fewer than 550,000 pills of tramadol were intercepted at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Rivers State, on Monday, September 2, during a joint examination of a cargo that came from Delhi, India, and that a suspect was arrested in connection with the seizure.
