Two people have been killed while five others sustained injuries following an accident involving a trailer and three other vehicles along the Madalla-Zuba highway on Sunday.
A witness, Nuhu Ahmad, told Abuja Metro yesterday that the incident took place some minutes after 3pm, adding that it led to the closure of the ever-busy highway for about two hours before officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) removed the affected vehicles from the road.
Others told our reporter that the driver of the trailer, which was coming from Zuba town toward Kaduna axis, had a brake failure and lost control. They said the trailer hit another vehicle beside it and two others moving in the opposite direction.
Abuja Metro reports that Madalla-Zuba highway, along the Abuja-Kaduna expressway, has witnessed an increased rate of accidents since the commencement of rehabilitation work on it about three months ago.
