GIS provides a one year work placement for graduates to improve their employability skills and give them a source of livelihood.
When Daily Trust visited one of the training centres in Abuja, some of the trainees expressed their views, with Stephen Akinlade, a teacher at Praxis International College, Efab Estate in Abuja saying that the scheme has prepared him to establish his own school and make him an entrepreneur.
He said that the scheme will go a long way in empowering a lot of young graduates like him, ensuring they don’t depend on white collar job which are scarcely available.
Another trainee, Miss Onumajuru Uchenna described the scheme as educative, saying it will go a long way in preparing Nigerian youths for future challenges.
“It shows that government recognizes that the key to solving unemployment is concerted efforts by all stakeholders by creating an enabling environment for businesses to start, expand and create more jobs.”
