Since the return of democracy in 1999 Bauchi State politics have been changing direction from one political party to another without real political achievement on the state. During Governor Ahmad Adamu Mu’azu tenure he transformed the state through construction of roads, offices and other government properties, but abandoned the welfare of the state civil servants.

Malam Isa Yuguda came in with a good plan on transforming the through human development and other aspect such as the reviving the Kafin Zaki dam, hospitals, hydro-power etc. He successfully achieved in human development in which he recruited many into civil service and improved on their welfare. Yuguda established Bauchi State University at Gadau, which is the main campus but split other campuses due to political bias and failed to look into its implications.

In 2015,when the wind of change blows APC took over the control of Bauchi State were it produced Alhaji Muhammad Abdullahi Abubakar as the state governor with the hope he will correct all the mistakes made by his predecessors.

Unfortunately,Governor MA Abubakar failed to meet up with the expectations of the citizens in the state in terms of human and physical development.

Now that Senator Bala Muhammad Abdulkadir is the governor-elect a lot is expected of him to move the state forward, even as people perceive him as a sinner with corruption allegations hanging on his neck from his stint as the Minister of Federal Capital Territory in the previous PDP administration. Although no court has convicted him but the anticorruption agency is pursuing the matter in court.

I would like Sen.Bala Muhammad to take bold steps towards transforming Bauchi State by bringing good and competent people that will help him deliver without party, religious or regional sentiments. Also he should try and resolve political dichotomy between Bauchi and Katagum. Bauchi State needs to be transforming because states like Gombe and Jigawa had already gone far.
