Ministers of Transport and Marine and Blue Economy have been confirmed as participants at the 2025 Transportation Correspondents Association of Nigeria (TCAN) Summit scheduled to hold on Wednesday, September 24, 2025.

The summit, now in its second edition after its debut in 2024, serves as an annual platform for stakeholders in the transport sector to engage on pressing issues affecting the industry. This year’s theme is “Driving the Transport Logistics Value Chains for Economic Growth.”

Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), Dr. Kayode Opeifa, will deliver the keynote address. Panel discussions will feature topics such as intermodal cargo evacuation from the ports, benefits and challenges; waterways transportation code and enforcement issues; “100 Years of Aviation in Nigeria: Gains and Missed Opportunities”; and maritime insecurity and its implications for trade routes.

Agencies and organisations expected at the event include the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA), Chartered Institute of Transport Administration of Nigeria (CIOTA), Dangote Industries Limited, and Trucks Transit Park (TTP), among others.

Speaking on preparations for the summit, Chairman of TCAN, Mr. Tola Adenubi, commended the commitment shown by stakeholders, noting that the gathering would play a pivotal role in strengthening Nigeria’s transport logistics value chain.

 

“We are thrilled by the interest this summit has generated, and we are convinced it will galvanize actions towards addressing the challenges of Nigeria’s transport logistics system,” Adenubi said. “For Nigeria’s transportation to evolve, all stakeholders must come together, speak with one voice, and optimise the opportunities in the system.”

 

He encouraged operators, regulators, and investigators in the transport sector to leverage the summit to showcase their contributions to national logistics development.

 

TCAN comprises journalists from leading national newspapers, television, and online platforms covering the transport sector. It operates as a subgroup of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).
